It's the Final Countdown!

Before I start I want to apologize for all the typos, I know they are there I am just too exhasted to fix them.
The last post was left off at 1:30 a.m on Tuesday morning... We got to school continued to sand and Steven was working on painted parts of the car and masking off the tires. The sun came up that was my alarm to remember to go pick up the acrylic piece we were having cut with a few images for his presentation. I called them to see if I could come pick it up at 7:30 a.m. but they said they did not start it yet!!! UGGG! Lasering acrylic takes forever if the computer file is big, but they were nice enough to start it right away. They told me it will be done at 10:oo a.m. Well that messed up our schedule to be done by 12:30 p.m. Once again we had to make it work. I got in the car, said a prayer and some how, some way I picked up the  acrylic piece and was back to working with Steven by 10:20 a.m. 20 minutes to go to the other side of Pasadena is unheard of!!

Away we worked. Watching the clock. We knew this last week of unstopping work was for 12:30 p.m. today where the Big Guys from all the car companies were coming, just to name a few: Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Fishker, GMC, Polaris, Yamaha, RTT, and BMW... Don't know the rest though. No pressure right??
Giene, the gal incharge of getting the students ready for the show came by while we worked and told us that we can't let anyone in and that we had until 11:30 a.m.!!!! AHH She cut down our time! We only had 45 minutes! Are adrenaline kicked in and worked proficiently but super fast. When Steven finished the last touches on our car we hugged each other and started to cry! WE DID IT!!!! WERE DONE!! 11:30! Right on the dot!! We then realized that the other students were not there... we walked around that thought this was strange. After a while we realized that Giene told us 12:30 and we were do tired that we thought she said 11:30. We were an hour early!!! Steven left to get dressed in his Dior suit we bought him. The other students were coming in around 12:20 p.m. and they had realized that they had more things to do! HAHA... That's what happens when you slack! It felt SOOOO good to just kick back for the hour and not be stressed for once.

12:30 p.m. came and Giene called the students together and went to the opposite side of the school while I sat in the lobby blogging about the day before. At the corner I my eye I saw a group of people walking by... it was the Big Guys!! They were all dressed in their suits, looking professional and scary. My heart raced and felt so nervous for Steven. When the Big Guys were settled in the Transportation Design room Giene brought the students in the lobby and gave them a pep-talk. The first student went in, the students all get 7 minutes to give their presentation. One by one each student walked in a nervous wreck, when they came out they looked like they walked through a ring of fire. It was really funny to by honest.
On guy came out with his head down and a red face and said, "MY FLY WAS DOWN THE WHOLE TIME!!!"  We made fun of him for the longest time, laughing and mimicking him. Don't worry though he was in on the fun. Another guy went in and came out saying, "I made them laugh! I broke the ice and told them, this is the most expensive 7 minutes of my life!" VERY TRUE! One guy's model car came out to be $9,000!! Can you believe that?? I could buy a real working car for that much. The sad thing is, is that he has 3 other cars too... can't even imagine. I am so glad Steven only designed one. As you read in posts pasted Steven's model was sponsored so we would have been in the hole about $5000, after the paint and other parts. Anyway... Steven sat on the couch and kept rehearsing in his head and I am sure prayer as well. If anyone knows Steven like I do you know he does not get nervous or stressed, but at that moment Steven looked at me and said, "Baby?... I'm really nervous." I knew he meant business. Giene comes in and looks at Steven and said, "Your up!" My stomach turned into knots... I follow him to the door, told him good luck and watched to door close. That 7 minutes felt like an eternity!! .... Steven came out of the room, so relaxed and chilled. He looked at me and said, "I never have given a show that like that before. If I had to repeat it again there is no way I could. I did SO GOOD!!!" What a relief!!!!! He could not stop talking about how fluid his show was and how calm he was. He told me that hardest and nerve wracking part was the wait, once he got inside the room he took charge of the audience.
After the show the students had time to mix and mingle with the employers. Greg, from Polaris was talking with Steven most of the time. Another guy from France was in the conversation, but this is how it went...

Greg: This model looks GREAT!! LOVE IT! Awesome man!
Steven: Well thank you, that means a lot to me.
Greg: (Taking picture of the model) I'll show these pictures to the guys in the studio (at Polaris), but I don't think that will do much good. Hey, I would like to fly you out with your model to show the guys. What do you think?
Steven: Would love to!!
Conversation goes on....
French guy: So in you presentaion you mentioned you don't ride bikes, but you design them?
Steven: Yeah... I like bikes but I can't afford them...
Greg: Well, you do NOW!

Take what  you want from that conversation, but that sounds very interesting.
Steven had a great time talking will everyone and also eager to get some sleep. This whole time I was in the lobby waiting for him... SOOO TIRED at this point. I laid my head on the arm chair of the couch and I was out!!! I caught up on another hour of sleep, totally my sleep to 2 hours for that day and night. Insane... it's the only word I can describe this last week.... INSANE!!! You want to torturer someone?? Force them to stay awake for a week! NOT COOL!
Made our way to Sue's house at 6:30p.m. shut our eyes finally and did not wake up until 10:30 a.m. 16 1/2 hours of much needed sleep! Got dressed, check our email before we head back to Moreno Valley and Steven got an email from Graig:

Steve,

If you’ve got time come on down with your wife and we’ll get you into the media day- Mike’s got a new bike that we’re going to intro there.

Wow! It makes my adrenaline rush just reading about your adventure! Good for you guys! You're such a team :) So, does this mean you'll be moving back to MN to work at Polaris?!

P.s. we want to see pics! (if it's kosher of course!)

Lots of love,
Leah Petersen and family
