California Love

Tanner and I decided to take a break from the cold and fly out to California for a couple weeks... well, okay by couple weeks I mean three weeks! I do feel so blessed tobe able to drop everything and come visit family on a whim. We have some fun things planned for the upcoming weeks, but we are just taking it easy. The worst thing about our trip though is that daddy had to stay home. We miss him so much, but love him to pieces for letting us go on our mother/son outing. :)
When we moved to MN I didn't realize how sad I would get that my family was missing out on Tanner's childhood! It really has only been about a year since we left, but felt like Tanner needed some extra attention from family, and maybe some for me too. ;)

So this is Tanner's first adventure back (what I call) home! And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Tanner has been to the beach since he was about 6 weeks old. Needless to say, I was so excited for him!

Tanner seriously dug his fingers in the warm sand for 20 minutes.

Here comes the water!

The water was chilly, but not too cold for this guy!

Tanner was so mad when we had to go! But any minute longer would have been too long, we had spent the whole time jumping over waves and keeping our eyes out for dolphins.
Now, seeing that we were the whitest bums on the beach I had to limit our exposure to the sun... Lesson was learned years ago and didn't want him to end up like this

We were at the beach for, oh... I don't know, about two hours or so, and we felt like Mr. Geppetto by the time we got home. The sun zapped the living day lights out of us. But after a long nap that afternoon we spent the evening having some quiet time watching a little Disney!
